Melinda is a Sydney-based ceramic artist living and working from her studio in the Northern Beaches. She hand-builds ceramic vessels that raku fired in her studio, a process that can take months to complete.
After many years working in other mediums—flowers, plants, and painting—coming back to clay was been a natural process for the artist. It allowed her to combine her love of nature into clay forms that hold space for the natural elements surrounding her world.
Her creative process is intuitive, and each vessel is unique in form and firing outcome—no two pieces are the same.
She is passionate about the raku firing process and the beautiful unpredictability it brings to the texture and glaze of each piece. The final stage—firing in the reduction bins—is what she believe breathes life into the work, giving each vessel its distinctive character and soul.
