Handmade Gathering Basket — Rust

Hand-woven in Bali from natural plant fibres, this gathering basket carries the warmth and quiet utility of a piece made by hand. Its deep rust tone is achieved through traditional dyeing techniques — a colour that deepens and softens with use, much like the basket itself.

Generously sized with two looped handles, it moves easily between settings: carried to the beach with towels and a book, into the market for fresh produce and flowers, or set down at home as a textural object — filled with throws beside a sofa, with linens in a bedroom, or simply left empty as a sculptural form.

Each basket is woven by artisan makers in small Balinese workshops, where weaving is a generational craft passed between mothers, daughters and neighbours. The rhythm of the weave, the tension of each fibre, and the placement of the handles are all decided by the maker's hand — meaning every piece carries small, beautiful variations in tone, weight and proportion.
