Lovers of the pared back brand, Albus Lumen by Marina Afonina will now be able to browse and shop by appointment at the new concept space in Bondi’s Glenayr Road.

Here, Marina hopes to meet customers, showcase her growing interiors collaborations and new fine jewellery collection, and hold art exhibitions. The physical space is part of her strategy to get back to basics this winter, after the heady success of 2019 - the biggest year so far in the brand’s 5-year lifespan.

As told to Harper’s Bazaar, this winter will bring a consolidation of her Australian-made main line, the launch of an evergreen basics line and the opening of Albus Lumen Société - the lab cum retail space. In a deliberate bid to slow things down for herself and her label, this feels perfectly timed to meet everyone's ideals for a slower way of life.

"I just don't want to go into that space again of getting excited and offering everything to everyone," she said. Instead, her new basics collection will have a purposeful exclusivity, including a tailored tracksuit, a three-quarter-sleeve T-shirt, and a merino wool jumper and cardigan in her preferred hues of cream, camel and black.

Albus Lumen has always been inspired by texture and natural elements; from the ocean, desert and sun. All the objects within the new space are consciously sourced - up-cycled or recycled. Latin for white light, Albus Lumen’s latest move brings the brand back to centre, shrugging off the weight of trends and moving confidently forward to expand the homewares collection.

Next up, a collaboration with local ceramicist Seema Stamou, which will consist of a book stand, a trinket holder and a lamp. Book your appointment here.
