At Hearth Co, we believe beautiful things are made with intention—and so are families. This Mother's Day, we're turning the lens inward and celebrating the women at the heart of our shop: five staff members, all mums, each sharing what they'd love to unwrap on their special day.
Over the coming weeks, we'll introduce you to each of them, their kids, their style, and the five pieces from the shop they're quietly hoping for. First up: our founder, Nina.

Mum to Jack, Lily, & Finn
Nina is the founder of Hearth Co and the reason these special boutiques exist at all. A few years ago, she started softly online, quickly realised that luxury handmade is a touch-and-feel kind of love affair, and before long, one store became two. When she's not sourcing extraordinary things from makers around the world or keeping up with Jack, Lily, and Finn, you'll find her at the store—surrounded by beautiful, unique things—and fighting the good fight to keep the boutique experience alive.
"I'm always drawn to things that feel considered, pieces you could never find in a shopping centre. That's what I want to give people, and honestly, it's exactly what I'd love to receive."
Nina’s Wish List: 5 Gifts She’s Eyeing
1. The Flatiron Label Handwoven Slingback Shoe in Ocean Blue
"It seems an unusual Mother's Day gift," Nina admits, "but these shoes are just so unique and gorgeous." Made to order in Italy, The Flatiron Label slingback is crafted from soft Italian leather with a perfect kitten heel. Plus, that unexpected ocean blue colourway is exactly the kind of quiet surprise Hearth Co is known for. Handmade, considered, and completely worth it.
2. Fourth Street Smoked Oak Ripple Tray
"I don't really know why I'm obsessed with this piece," Nina laughs—and that's rather the point. Handmade in Aotearoa, the solid oak tray bears a dark smoke stain that makes the grain look “almost molten.” It's a purely decorative object that somehow elevates every surface it touches. The kind of thing you buy once and pass down forever.
3. Vanessa Megan Monarch Eau de Parfum
Vanessa Megan has just re-launched her luxurious fragrance collection, now distilled in certified organic sugarcane alcohol for longer wear and a cleaner dry-down. Monarch is a beloved blend of lavender, ylang-ylang, rose, geranium leaf, and patchouli, formulated exclusively with whole essential oils and absolutes. "I'm always looking to reduce toxic load," says Nina, "so a 50ml bottle would be a very welcome addition to my fragrance shelf."

4. Philippa Green Twirly Whirly Ring in Bronze
Bold, chunky, and completely unmissable, Philippa Green's sculptural rings are the sort of jewellery that starts conversations. “I’d be happy with any of them, honestly. They look amazing stacked or worn across several fingers at once," she says, "but really, you need to come in and try them on." Consider this your invitation.
5. The Flatiron Label Petrichor Foldover Clutch
Another piece from The Flatiron Label, and just as impossible to resist. Made from vintage French hessian and roughly the size of a folded newspaper, “it just looks so casually chic tucked under the arm,” says Nina. “I love the simplicity, and I’ll take either option—the white stripe or the orange stripe—please and thank you."
